MAGNA, Utah – A man has died after police said he was beat up by a group of people in Magna.

Sgt. Melody Cutler with the Unified Police Department said the 41-year-old died at the hospital after he was attacked near 3600 South and 8400 West around 2 p.m. Monday.

Police said there were multiple suspects, some as young as 18 years-old, others in their early 20s.

All of the suspects were taken into custody, according to Cutler, and are being interviewed.

Police said this was not a random act and that all people involved know each other.

The victim was later identified as Fred Valdamar Ortiz of Magna.
