The district said it worked in conjunction with the Grand County Commission and South East Utah District Health Department to issue the order.
The mask mandate will begin on the first day of school, Aug. 19, and last for 30 days.
During those 30 days, officials will monitor COVID-19 case counts to decide whether to extend the order.
They said they plan to drop the mask requirement once vaccines are approved for children ages 5 to 12.
