Semi-truck driver dead after Box Elder County crash

BOX ELDER COUNTY, Utah — One person has died after suffering a “fatal medical issue” while driving on Interstate 15 in Box Elder County, resulting in a crash.
The incident happened at mile marker 386 around 1:40 p.m. Friday.

Officials with the Utah Highway Patrol said a semi freightliner tractor truck was traveling southbound on I-15 when it went off the roadway and through a large ditch.
Troopers said the driver was unresponsive when they arrived on scene.
Emergency personnel attempted life-saving efforts, but the driver had passed away.
“The driver of the vehicle appeared to have suffered a fatal medical issue while driving,” read a press release from UHP.
The victim’s name has not been released.
