Major Taylor’s Family Receives Support, Donations From Around The World

Nov 6, 2018, 12:56 AM

NORTH OGDEN, Utah – As the wife of Major Brent Taylor awaits the return of her husband’s body, friends and family are rallying around Jennie Taylor and their seven children. The body of the late mayor of North Ogden and Army National Guard member was flown from Afghanistan to Dover, Delaware Monday night.

An overwhelming support is flowing in and so far, $362,000 has been raised for the Taylors on a GoFundMe account set up by family friends.

“There is nothing you can do to take away that pain,” said Lindee Bess, friend of Major Taylor. “We thought that the next best thing was giving Jennie piece of mind when it comes to financials.”

Lindee Bess and Lori Lee helped set up the fundraiser Saturday evening with Major Taylor’s wife and children in mind.

“To all of us, it’s a story. To her, it’s her life. It’s what she is living,” said Lori Lee who worked on the North Ogden community council with Major Taylor.

Lee is coming from a place of experience. She, too, is a widow and said she wants the Taylor family to have the community’s support as well.

“Finances as a single parent is the first thing. You think ‘how am I going to do this,’” she said.

The donations continue to grow by the hour as people from around the world comfort the grieving family. Locally, residents are donating immediate necessities, such as diapers and other items for the kids. Donations are being collected at 2120 North 400 East, North Ogden.

Bess said the most inspirational part is to see the messages written on the GoFundMe’s wall.

“The kids have loved going through this because it’s very special to them and they can look back on it. It saves this, it warms their hearts. It brings their Dad to them,” said Bess.

Major Taylor’s body is expected to reach Utah by the end of the week. The family says funeral plans are still pending.
