SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – As the measles outbreak continues to spread in parts of the United States, health officials are saying there’s a fear that some adults who may have received the vaccine when they were younger may not be fully protected.
Physicians in Los Angeles, where nearly 700 people remain in quarantine, say most adults born between 1957 – 1989 only received one dose of the vaccine. Officials said that dose resulted in a 93 percent immunity, but a second dose will bump that up to 97 percent.
Health officials are urging adults in the L.A. area especially to get the second dose to help stop the outbreak. Authorities are especially urging anyone with travel plans to get the booster.
