SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Police on Thursday will release body camera footage from a recent officer-involved shooting.
The shooting happened Jan. 8 after police say Tyler Webster, 20, met up with a man who was selling a car. As the victim was checking the engine, Webster then reportedly drove off in the vehicle while the hood was still open.
Salt Lake City police encountered Webster in the area of 1500 West and North Temple. Authorities said he drove toward officers’ cars, and that’s when police opened fire.
Webster was taken to the hospital and has since been transferred to police custody.
SLCPD will hold a press conference at 10 a.m. to release the body cam footage.
