Utah Tech Industry Booms At Silicon Slopes Tech Summit

SALT LAKE CITY – Over 20,000 people were expected to attend the annual Silicon Slopes Tech Summit at the Salt Palace Convention Center.
The summit launched Thursday and was expected to last through Friday.
Friday was a big day as the 2020 gubernatorial debate started at 11 a.m., and Mark Zuckerberg, the founder and CEO of Facebook, was expected to speak at 5 p.m.
Organizers said this year’s summit has been nothing short of a good time, a great experience and full of opportunity.
Utah’s technology industry is booming.
The annual event continues to draw attendees, and its growth was recognized by Gail Miller of the Larry H. Miller Group.
“It’s grown year over year, and that’s very impressive,” said Miller. “We all want to be like Silicon Slopes and learn the secrets of success. I believe though if Silicon Slopes is like other businesses, that their successes are a result of trial and error.”
Men, women, young and seasoned attended the two-day event, some getting first-hand experience.
“While she’s sitting at the consul, she’s the surgeon, and with both of her hands, she’s able to manipulate up to three robotic arms,” said Miller.
Silicon Slopes teamed up with partners to fight against Utah hunger and pack one million meals for the Utah Food Bank. Volunteers packed 425,000 of those meals Thursday.
The event wraps at 7p.m.
