Several Northern Utah Shopping Malls Reopening With Adjustments

SALT LAKE CITY — Several shopping malls in northern Utah have announced they will be reopening with new hours and added safety precautions.

Among the list of centers that will be made available to customers starting this week are Fashion Place, City Creek Center, The Gateway, and Station Park.

Fashion Place

According to the Fashion Place website, the mall will be reopening Tuesday, May 5 with adjusted hours.

Safety measures have been updated and a list of stores that will be opening have been posted on the site.

“We appreciate your understanding and support during this challenging time.  We are closely monitoring the rapidly evolving COVID-19 pandemic and will continue to provide updates via our website,” read a statement on the mall’s website.

City Creek Center

Officials at the City Creek Center said they will reopen Wednesday, May 6 beginning at 11:00 a.m.

They warned customers that store and restaurant hours may be different.

“As we reopen our shopping center on a reduced daily schedule to help meet the needs of the community, we are taking the following steps to place your health and safety above all else,” read a statement on the retail center’s website, adding that they will continue to comply with all local, state, and federal health laws.

Shoppers have been asked to wear a mask and to avoid entering the center if they are sick.

Among the safety precautions the City Creek Center will be adding are: offering hand sanitizer at designated stations, using signage and decals to help customers practice social distancing, cleaning and disinfecting the center throughout the day and after-hours, and resetting seating areas in the common areas and food courts to allow for greater social distancing.

The Gateway

Some stores at The Gateway in downtown Salt Lake City will also be reopening.

The outdoor shopping and dining center released a statement on their website, listing dates and times of when merchants will be made available to their customers.

“We will keep updating the information as we learn more,” read the statement.

Mall representatives said they are expecting retail chain stores to open up mid-month, but some stores like AT&T and Rocky Mountain Chocolates have already opened.

Some restaurants like Bout Time have opened for in-house dining.

Station Park

Station Park in Farmington announced they have reopened, but not all stores will be operating under the same hours.

They advised shoppers to check with the individual stores directly.

Information was released on their website regarding tenants, guests, and general health and safety guidelines.

“Together we will re-open safely, responsibly, and better than ever!” read the “guest” statement.

The shopping mall said their common area seating has been changed, large events have been scaled down to limit gatherings, cleaning staff has implemented more regular and stringent disinfecting procedures, and retail clerks and curbside delivery staff have been required to take mask and glove training.

Curbside pickup has also been installed.
