SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Harmons grocery stores will close on Thanksgiving Day this year, according to a statement from the company.
The decision was made to give the essential workers a day off with their families after months of work during the coronavirus pandemic.
“Our associates have gone above and beyond this year to keep shelves stocked, stores cleaned, and customers served during the pandemic,” said Bob Harmon, chairman for the customer. “We value these essential workers to thank them for their dedication, the decision was made to close on Thanksgiving to enable associates to spend time with their families.”
Harmons has joined a national trend of retailers that have announced closures on Nov. 26, even at the expense of some Black Friday sales. Both Target and Walmart have announced their stores will be closed on Thanksgiving Day.
