The Elk Ridge subdivision was put in a pre-evacuation stage.
Officials said a northern wind and terrain caused the blaze to burn grass and brush in the area.
The fire grew to approximately 20 acres just after 7:00 p.m.
The Sanpete County Sheriff said favorable winds and air support were being “extremely helpful.”
