K-9 Finds 10 Pounds Of Meth, Nearly 3 Pounds Of Fentanyl Pills Inside Vehicle

CEDAR CITY, Utah — K-9 Vojak with the Iron County Sheriff’s Office discovered 10 pounds of methamphetamine and 2.9 pounds of fentanyl pills inside a vehicle during a traffic stop in Iron County.
The Utah Highway Patrol called in Corporal Shawn Peterson and K-9 Vojak to assist with the traffic stop at mile marker 60 on Interstate 15 15 in Cedar City around 12:30 a.m. Sunday.
According to Lt. Del Schlosser of the ICSO, Vojak walked around the outside of the vehicle, conducting a free air search, and indicated to officers that narcotics were inside.
Upon further investigation, the K-9 found approximately 10 pounds of methamphetamine in one box and 2.9 pounds of fentanyl pills in another box.
Some small amounts of marijuana products and paraphernalia were also located.
The suspect, Rafael Escobar, was arrested on scene.
