Shelter-In-Place Protocol Lifted At School After Police Incident In South Salt Lake

SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah – There was a heavy police presence in South Salt Lake on Tuesday afternoon, and a nearby school was placed on shelter-in-place protocols.
The incident happened in the area of 2700 South and 300 East. KSL’s photographer at the scene reported police took a person into custody.
The Granite School District announced Granite Park Junior High, Copper Hills Elementary and Matheson Junior High were all sheltering in place as the incident unfolded. District officials later confirmed the protocol at Granite Park Junior High was directly related to the incident happening in South Salt Lake.
The shelter-in-place was lifted at approximately 1:45 p.m., according to district spokesperson Ben Horsley.
The shelter-in-place protocols activated at Copper Hills Elementary and Matheson Junior High were related to a warrant that was being executed in the area. Those protocols have since been lifted.
Granite Park Junior High has been placed on a Shelter in Place protocol by law enforcement as they attempt to locate a suspect in the area. There is increased police presence at the Granite Education Center and Woodrow Wilson Elementary but no protocol has been initiated. pic.twitter.com/8QnZqnfzbM
