SALT LAKE CITY — It’s September, and that means it’s a new month where Utahns can save some money.
Buy
According to offers.com, you’ll want to jump at these deals.
First, mattresses and appliances — check out all the local retailers and big box stores.
Outdoor patio sets are discounted because the weather’s about to change, and stores need to turn over that product.
That’s the same reason that bicycles are on sale, along with summer apparel and denim items.
And I know students are already a few weeks into the school year, but school supplies are now going on sale.
Skip
Now you’ll want to put your debit and credit cards away on the next few items.
Skip fall clothing this month — sweaters and jackets aren’t going to be cheap.
Hold off on electronics which will all be going on sale for Black Friday and Cyber Monday in a couple of months.
Specifically, hold off on phones — don’t get an iPhone for the next little while, because Apple is likely going to unveil the newest iPhone 13, which means all the other models drop in price.
If you’re wanting to take advantage of those deals, you’re likely asking what stores are open this Labor Day.
Most chain retailers and restaurants will keep their doors open Monday, including places like Walmart, Target and Starbucks. But as for local restaurants and stores, you’ll need to check before you head out.
Since Labor Day is a federal holiday, government offices are closed, including the post office. Banks and Credit Unions usually take the day off as well.
There was at least one chain retailer that is closed — Costco. However, rival Sam’s Club will remain open.
