New MRI system offers hope to children with brain tumors and seizures

SALT LAKE CITY— A new intraoperative MRI system at Intermountain Primary Children’s Hospital will be a game changer for children in Utah and throughout the Intermountain West who suffer from seizures and brain tumors.

According to a release from the hospital, “The innovative system is specifically designed for children and allows surgeons to capture MRI images during brain surgery. By having real time data, surgeons can ensure all of the tumor is removed while saving healthy brain tissue.”
