ROY, Utah — A 39-year-old woman is in police custody after engaging in several criminal incidents in Roy Saturday night.

According to arrest documents, Natalie Hamilton, 39, stole her mother’s car from Ogden and drove to Roy. Another person followed Hamilton by car, letting police know where she was headed.

Hamilton turned south on 2775 W 5600 South, arrived at a dead end, attempted to turn around, hit an empty parked car, then drove away.

She got back to 5600 South, where she ran a stop sign and T-boned a vehicle traveling east, according to documents.

Hamilton got out of the stolen car, and it started to roll down the street. One of the witnesses to the T-bone crash was able to stop the stolen car and place it in park.

Hamilton went to another car that had stopped because of the T-bone crash and asked the driver, who was standing outside their car, for a ride. When the driver declined, she tried to get into the driver’s seat to take the car while the driver’s 14-year-old was still inside.

“The driver, with the help of her 14-year-old, were able to get her out of the seat before she could leave with the 14-year-old,” the arrest documents stated.

Hamilton then went to a bystander and asked them for a ride and a bandaid. The bystander took Hamilton to their nearby apartment to look for a bandaid and told her to wait at the door.

“[Hamilton] unlawfully entered the home and entered a bedroom. She was told to leave but refused until she was escorted out by the occupants,” according to documents.

After that, Hamilton ran north and attempted to enter two more houses while a second person followed her.

When Hamilton could not enter the houses, she went across the street to the Heritage Park Care Center and tried several doors until she found an open door into the closed facility.

The second person followed her inside the Heritage Park Care Center and witnessed Hamilton running around the building and attempting to enter residents’ rooms.

“The staff members tried to keep her out, and she engaged in tumultuous behavior by shoving a 16-year-old employee,” according to arrest documents.

Fortunately, the employee did not sustain any injuries.

Police then arrived at the facility, where an employee opened the door and asked for help.

“[Hamilton] was causing a great deal of alarm and loud crashing noises could be heard through the center as we attempted to locate her in the building,” state arrest documents. “After some time, she apparently gave up and was led to us by the involved party who had been following her.”

Police ordered Hamilton to the ground, but she refused. They were able to place Hamilton in handcuffs as she resisted arrest and refused to listen to police commands. She was able to slip out of the handcuffs during the arrest, but police were able to place her in custody without further issues.

According to arrest documents, Hamilton has a prior DUI conviction, a suspended driver’s license, and was ignition interlock restricted.

Hamilton’s mother told police Hamilton was drinking before stealing her car. Police obtained a warrant for Hamilton’s blood, and doctors believe she was under the influence of meth.

“[Hamilton] appeared to have forgotten she was driving, and seemed to be having hallucinations about what had actually occurred,” state arrest documents.

Hamilton was booked into Weber County Jail for:

  • receive or transfer stolen vehicle,
  • robbery,
  • criminal trespass within a dwelling,
  • criminal trespass,
  • two counts of accident involving property damage
  • driving on a suspended license,
  • failure to yield right of way
  • DUI with alcohol/drugs,
  • interference with an arresting officer,
  • intoxication,
  • disorderly conduct,
  • and ignition interlock violation.
