1 hospitalized, 1 in custody following shooting in West Valley City

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah — One person was taken to the hospital Friday night after a driver shot another driver during some sort of disagreement in West Valley City.
The incident is impacting eastbound lanes of traffic on 3500 South, near the Interstate 215 overpass.
Police said two vehicles were involved in a disagreement while on the road that escalated to a shooting. They said one of the drivers got out of their vehicle while the second driver fired shots while still in their car.
The victim was taken to the hospital in stable condition.
According to a tweet from the West Valley City Police Department, the suspect remained on scene and is in custody.

The public has been asked to avoid the area while police continue their investigation.
