GANGNEUNG, South Korea — KSL happened to catch a really unique opportunity in Olympic Park: a traditional Korean street performance.
They happen daily in the Coastal Cluster at different times with different groups. This particular performance featured a group of men dressed in period-based costumes, playing traditional Korean drums and horns.
It was an impressive show that drew a crowd of hundreds.
“I think my favorite part was when they all sync up, when they were twirling the ribbons on their head. And when they picked up the tempo, you could really feel everybody was getting really excited,” spectator Grace Hayes said.
The break dancing at the end — that was perhaps a little creative flexibility.
It was really interesting to get a taste of ancient Korean flavor. A number of people told KSL this was something you don’t see everyday in modern South Korea, so perhaps a little nostalgia as well.
