PARK CITY, Utah — Multiple cities across Utah and other states received bomb threats Thursday afternoon — one of which was determined to be a “hoax,” officials said.
Park City, West Valley, South Salt Lake, South Jordan, Murray, Draper, Cache County and Dixie State University in St. George have all received threats, according to various law enforcement agencies and dispatchers.
The Park Record, a news organization in Park City, tweeted that a bomb threat was emailed to the organization. Schools in the area were briefly placed on lockdown while police investigated the threat, according to Park City School District spokeswoman Melinda Colton.
Shortly after noon, Park City police determined the Park Record threat was “a hoax,” and employees returned to the building, according to a tweet from the Park Record.
Meanwhile, Dixie State University is investigating a bomb threat at its testing center, and the building has been evacuated, the college’s director of public relations Jyl Hall said.
The threats are also happening in other states across the country as well.
