SPANISH FORK, Utah — Spanish Fork Junior High School was placed on lockout Thursday because of an unspecified incident, Nebo School District officials said.
Principal Matt Christensen issued a statement saying there was a rumor of a weapon on campus, and the administration contacted police immediately.
A student believed to be connected with the incident was detained and was being questioned by police, Nebo School District spokeswoman Lana Hiskey said.
Officials said the school, located at 600 S. 820 East, was put on out lockout about 12:30 p.m.
“The situation is outside of the building and our students are safe,” the school posted on Facebook.
The school was searched and found safe, according to Christensen’s statement, and it was determined there was no validity to the rumor.
