CEDAR CITY, Utah – One person was detained for questioning after a girl reported an attempted kidnapping at a truck stop Tuesday evening.
Police released the person in question Wednesday morning.
The alleged incident happened shortly before 7 p.m. at the Love’s Truck Stop, 2645 N. Canyon Ridge Drive.
Cedar City Police Sgt. Clint Pollock said the juvenile female was alone in a truck at the time of the alleged attempted abduction. She was traveling with her father, who was not at the vehicle when the reported incident occurred.
The juvenile gave police a description of the person she said tried to abduct her and a description of his vehicle.
Authorities issued an attempt-to-locate, and a Utah Highway Patrol trooper located a vehicle and driver in Washington County that matched the alleged victim’s description, Pollock said. The trooper detained the person of interest and transported him to the Cedar City Police Department for questioning.
