UHP Lt. Randall Richie said it appears the pedestrian was doing everything correctly when she was hit. She is in “very serious” condition, officials report.
A doctor was in the vicinity and jumped in to help, troopers said.
The driver of the SUV stayed on scene and is cooperating with the investigation, authorities said. There were no obvious indications of why the driver went through the crosswalk.
The Sundance Film Festival is about to begin, and UHP said drivers need to be extra vigilant as there will be more pedestrians than usual around town.
