Permanent Daylight Saving Time Bill Heading To Governor’s Desk

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The permanent Daylight Saving Time bill made its way out of the Utah House in a nearly unanimous vote on Wednesday.
The legislation, which would put The Beehive State on DST year-round, passed 70 to one. Lawmakers have been pushing bills similar to this for years, but this is the first one to pass both the state House and Senate.
However, there are still some obstacles to overcome before Utahns can set their clocks and then leave them be.
If Gov. Gary Herbert signs the legislation, both the U.S. Congress and four Western states must also make the change in order for the bill to take effect.
Utah polls show the majority of residents want to do away with changing their clocks twice a year.
