SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — Thanksgiving Point officials announced their four venues will close to encourage social distancing during the coronavirus outbreak.
The Butterfly Biosphere, Museum of Ancient Life, Museum of Natural Curiosity and Farm Country venues closed at 3 p.m. Monday. The Harvest Restaurant and the Tower Deli at the Water Tower Plaza were also included in the closure.
“We join with the rest of the country in taking care of each other and ourselves,” said Mike L. Washburn, CEO and president of Thanksgiving Point. “We strive to be a safe haven from the storms of life and a fun place for families. We are committed to keeping our property safe for everyone. During this time, we encourage our employees and guests to care for one another and be patient as we work through these issues.”
Counties Closing Dine-In Restaurants
Health departments in Summit and Salt Lake counties have closed dine-in restaurants to help slow the spread of the novel coronavirus.
Summit County’s order went into effect Sunday evening while Salt Lake County’s will be active at 11 p.m. Monday.
Restaurants were allowed to offer takeout, delivery, curbside pickup or drive-thru options, as long as they comply with the public health orders in their county.
“We can’t emphasize enough the priority to still make food available. Curbside take-out or drive-thru food service is permitted, but third-party food delivery services are prohibited. Following these orders will contribute to slowing the spread of COVID-19 cases in our community,” said Summit County health officer Dr. Rich Bullough.
Other Closures
Chick-Fil-A announced Sunday it will be closing all dining rooms to limit person-to-person contact during the pandemic.
Drive-thrus will remain open and some restaurants could offer mobile pickup or delivery options.
