ROY, Utah – Officials with the Roy City Police Department said a warrant has been issued for an 18-year-old man accused of attempted murder.
Police said they were called out to an incident near 4000 South and 2275 West on June 7 and the suspect, Jovani Hernandez, had a firearm.
Officers said Hernandez fired two shots at another male during an argument before fleeing the scene. The victim was not struck by any rounds.
Hernandez left the area with his 17-year-old girlfriend Corinne Whaley and investigators said they have not been able to locate them.
“Investigators do not believe Whaley was taken against her will,” police said Wednesday. “Whaley is still believed to be in the company of Hernandez, who is considered armed and dangerous.”
Officials also said Whaley has been reported as missing because she is a juvenile and her whereabouts were unknown.
A warrant for Hernandez’s arrest was issued by the 2nd District Court in Weber County on Wednesday. Police said he is wanted for attempted murder, possession of a firearm by a restricted person and felony discharge of a firearm.
Hernandez was described as a 5-foot-7 male with brown hair and brown eyes. Whaley was described as a 5-foot-5 female with brown hair and green eyes.
Roy police said anyone with information should not approach the pair and call their department at 801-629-8221.
