Utah K-9 Trials Highlight 35 Dogs From Across The State

DRAPER, Utah – The Utah Peace Officers’ Association K-9 trials began this weekend, highlighting 35 dogs from law enforcement, search and rescue, fire departments and military units across Utah in various trials.
Saturday and Sunday events are open to the public at Galena Park, located at 12400 South 550 West in Draper, with social distancing and guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control in effect.
On Saturday, beginning at 1:30 pm, the hardest-hitting competition (measured force with the use of decoys) begins at the park.
Public events on Sunday include agility competitions, patrol scenarios and suspect apprehension and tactics. Those events begin at 8 a.m.
There will be t-shirts and hoodies on sale at events on both days, with all funds raised being used to put on the trials and send handlers and their K-9 partners to advanced training.
The top two performing patrol dogs will win a spot to participate in a high-risk deployment training that will be held in November.
