2-Year-Old Girl Killed In Taylorsville Crash; Mother, Other Child In Critical Condition
TAYLORSVILLE, Utah – Police said a 2-year-old girl was killed in a two-car crash near 5000 South and 3200 West, and her mother and twin sister were hospitalized in critical condition.
Officials with the Unified Police Department confirmed the crash happened just after 3 p.m. Tuesday.
“This is a horrifically tragic accident,” said Sgt. Melody Gray with the Unified Police Department. “They weren’t in the road, crossing against traffic or anything. This is really a tragedy.”

Surveillance video from a nearby home shows a dog on the side of the road. Seconds after it begins crossing 3200 West, the driver of a gold Honda Accord driving north hits the brakes and a white pick-up truck plows into the back corner of it, pushing it onto the sidewalk where a mother pushing her twin 2-year-old daughters in a stroller.
“This is tragic you know,” said neighbor Jose Corona. “It’s a toddler. It’s a toddler.”
The impact was obvious to everyone passing by later in the day. By Tuesday evening, a small memorial had grown at the site on the sidewalk where a crumbled wall and tree remained.
A neighbor shared their surveillance video with us and police. It shows the moments leading up to the awful crash, including an animal running across the street and the first car slamming on its brakes and then being hit from behind. @KSL5TV at 10 pic.twitter.com/NaIZpDtyvG

For neighbors like Corona, the tragic circumstances highlight what they see as the underlying problem of speed on this 35 mph road.
“It says a lot about the traffic situation on these streets,” he said.
