MAPLETON, Utah – Authorities began lifting evacuations at the Ether Hollow Fire in Utah County at noon on Tuesday.
Fire officials noted that those residents within the evacuation zone will remain in an advisory state since it will be possible for further fire activity once the grass dries.
More than 200 homes were evacuated Monday and 500 homes were threatened after the wildfire was sparked by a target shooter. The small fire quickly grew from about three acres to 1,000 thanks to the dry conditions along with heavy winds.

The fire is zero percent contained. Officials said overnight rain has significantly reduced the fire activity, which has allowed residents in Hobble Creek, Springville and Mapleton to return to their homes.
The Ether Hollow Fire is the second fire this month to be started by target shooting.
