OGDEN, Utah – The Weber County Attorney’s Office has released the body cam footage from a deadly officer-involved shooting that happened Feb. 5.
The attorney’s office released the video as part of a community briefing.
Police said they had been looking for Dino Raul Morales, who they said sexually assaulted a woman earlier that day and then took her car.
Officers said they spotted the stolen vehicle later that night. As they approached it, though, Morales ran away. Authorities later found him in an open garage.
Police said he had been hiding in the bed of a pickup truck. When he stood up, he appeared to be armed with a handgun.
The body cam footage shows the officers’ attempts to get Morales to drop the weapon. When he didn’t comply, two officers fired shots, striking and killing the suspect.
The officers were placed on paid administrative leave.
The Weber County Attorney’s Office says the investigation is ongoing.
