SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Bars in Utah’s capitol city are required to check IDs. The Bayou is requiring another type of form to get in – proof of vaccination.
The bar and restaurant reopened for the first time since the pandemic began in March 2020. They survived doing merely take-out orders the whole past year.
“It feels like we are kind of on vacation, because it has been so long since we have been out with people,” said one customer.
The owner, Mark Alston, said they are getting a lot more positive feedback than the first initial negative reaction.
“I’m see happy people again. I see people getting along, having a good time and not stressing about COVID,” he said.
The Bayou, located at 645 South State Street, has asked patrons to bring their vaccination card, and come two weeks after the second vaccine if it was Moderna or Pfizer.
Alston said he viewed mask use in a restaurant and bar setting like his as not practical. It is why he waited to fully up for vaccinated customers, in addition to protecting his staff.
The Bayou is back, and here is what you need to get in.
