Victim, Suspect Identified In South Salt Lake Homicide

SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah — The identities have been released of a man and woman who were found dead inside a South Salt Lake residence.
Officials from the South Salt Lake Police Department identified the victim as 34-year-old Lauren Hoover of Murray and the suspect as 38-year-old Philip Gorst of South Salt Lake.
The incident happened at 2889 South Eugene Lane shortly after 11 p.m. Saturday.
When officers entered the townhome, they found Hoover and Gorst dead from apparent gunshot wounds.

Police suspect it was a murder-suicide.
“Early indications seem to be a strong possibility of a murder-suicide, however again, no conclusions have been made at this point in time,” said Sgt. Matthew Oehler with SSLPD.
Police said there were no documented cases of domestic violence between the couple.
