A Utah man was arrested for sexual exploitation of a minor after a cyber tip reached authorities about the contents of a Dropbox account in Mapleton.

The Utah County Sheriff’s Office arrested Kyler Jaret Porter Thursday. The tip originated at the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, given from Dropbox about content uploaded to its file-sharing service, on approximately July 24.

Porter was taken into custody and booked on three counts of suspicion of sexual exploitation of a child. Under U.S. law, all people are presumed innocent until they are proven guilty.

After Dropbox reported the files, a Homeland Security Investigations agent examined the content, determined they depict child abuse or exploitation. Descriptions of two sexually explicit videos and a sexually explicit photo of prepubescent children were described in court documents, though KSL TV is choosing not to report the content in detail.

Investigators said one child was between 8 and 10, another was 13 to 16 and two others 14 to 16, all were nude.

Investigators obtained a subpoena to locate and identify the Dropbox user. They discovered Porter and located his Mapleton address and served a search warrant there. Porter spoke with investigators after he was informed of his Miranda rights. He admitted to owning the Dropbox account and email associated with it, as well as his username.

Court documents say he told police that he downloaded links from Snapchat groups where files were shared. He said he clicked the links and downloaded the content to Dropbox and told investigators he would view the files but didn’t always remember them.

He said he thought the girls shown were 16 to 18 years old.

Porter also said, according to documents, “this generation look older than they are maybe someone who is 10 might look 16.” He said he deleted the app from his phone three months prior.

He also admitted to sexually abusing two relatives  years before, when they were 8 and 9 years old but the incidents were never reported to law enforcement.

Porter was taken to the Utah County Jail.
