SALT LAKE CITY — It could be quite a swearing-in ceremony Tuesday at the Salt Lake County council meeting. That’s when the PAWlitical leadership is slated to take office. Salt Lake County clerk Sherrie Swenson will make it official, swearing in a mayor, a deputy mayor and a nine-member PAWlitical council.
Blueberry and Tiki will serve as mayor and deputy for two years. The duo will represent Salt Lake County Animal Services, which raised nearly $12,000 for the county’s injured animal fund during the clever election campaign. The program has helped hundreds of injured pets over the years and will continue to provide assistance throughout the community.
Blueberry, Tiki and the PAWlitical Council are scheduled to make appearances around the county, sharing the importance of adopting shelter pets, spaying/neutering, and demonstrating how to be a model citizen for their breed. They rose to power in an election pool of 25 dogs and two cats.
Blueberry, an 8-year-old pitbull, works at Camp Bow Wow in South Salt Lake as an assistant to certified dog trainers. Her political agenda reportedly centers around educating others about pet-related training, safety, and emergency preparedness. Blueberry also aspires to help animals find forever homes and educate others about pitbulls and senior pets.
