The most popular board game in Utah is… Catan!

SALT LAKE CITY – Board games have made a comeback in the last two years, according to a new survey, with games like Monopoly, Chess, and Checkers checkmating the other games.
According to a survey done by Solitaire Bliss, board games and their online counterparts became popular again due to the COVID-19 pandemic and shows like Netflix’s “The Queen’s Gambit.”
The study shows that southern states love Checkers, while various states across the United States prefer Chess.
And Utahn’s voted for Settlers of Catan as their favorite board game. Colorado, Michigan, and Washington are also a part of the Catan fan club.
According to the study, Monopoly, Scrabble, and Chess were the top online games.
When asked about their favorite part of playing board games, 70 percent said, “I get to spend quality time with my family” or friends, with 56 percent enjoying the mental challenge they bring.
