NORTH OGDEN, Utah – Two are dead after fleeing from a traffic stop and crashing into a tree in North Ogden Saturday morning.
By Monday, North Ogden Police Chief confirmed all the people involved were juveniles.
According to North Ogden police Sgt. Child, they performed a traffic stop on the car with five teens inside around 3100 North, but it fled from police.
It went westbound at high speeds at 450 East 3100 North, where the car started to “spark and then the vehicle left the roadway and hit a tree,” Child said.
Two of them passed away on the scene, with the other three in an unknown condition at the hospital.
Child said they are investigating why they fled but believe that impairment might be the cause as they found alcohol and marijuana inside the car.
The identities of those involved has not been released.
