Utah Falconz set to play for women’s football championship, needs help

Jun 14, 2022, 6:32 PM | Updated: 7:55 pm

SALT LAKE CITY — Utah’s all-women, semi-pro tackle football team is heading to the national championship game in Texas after an incredible upset during the playoffs in San Diego.

The Utah Falconz barely made the playoffs this year and landed as a No. 4 seed.  Last weekend it was a Cinderella story when they beat the No. 1 seed and former conference champions, the San Diego Rebellions who had a 6-0 record.

The Falconz then beat the No. 2 seed for the Conference championship game, the Denver Bandits which had a 7-0 record.  The Bandits had already defeated the Falconz twice this season.

As a result of winning the WNFC Pacific Conference Championship that advanced the team to the national championship game which will be in Frisco, Texas on June 26, against Dallas.

The Falconz made history in the league by becoming the first No. 4 seed to upset two undefeated teams and make it to the national championship game.

The team has been around for eight years and has a record of 71-8.  They have played in five national championship games.

The team is short on funds to make the trip to Texas so they have set up a gofundme account at  wnfcfootball.com  for those who want to help get them to Texas.
