SLC firefighters battle 2-alarm fire near I-215 to SR 201 ramp

SALT LAKE CITY — Firefighters responded to the area of Interstate 215 and state Route 201 due to a 2-alarm wildland fire Wednesday morning.
Capt. Shaun Mumedy with the Salt Lake City Fire Department said the fire started on the ramp from southbound I-215 West to westbound S.R. 201.
Black smoke could be seen from across the Salt Lake Valley as the flames burned through grass next to the ramp before spreading to a nearby business.
Mumedy said several pallets of materials were damaged but the flames only damaged the building’s exterior.
No cause for the fire has been given and no injuries were reported.
