SALT LAKE CITY — A contractor is in “serious condition” after being shocked during a repair at a correctional center Wednesday.
According to Adult Probation Parole Deputy Region Chief Craig Greenberg, the independent contractor worked on the center’s roof at 1141 South 2475 West around noon.
The contractor was fixing the freezer when he touched a pipe with a wire on top of it and was shocked.

Greenberg said the contractor was conscious and speaking to him on the roof but was in serious condition and needed medical attention.
Salt Lake Fire crews responded and airlifted the contractor to the hospital. Greenburg said he was still in serious condition at the hospital.
Power was shut down for the block for a short time as they replaced the wire. It’s unknown the exact cause of why the wire shocked the contractor.
