WASHINGTON TERRACE, Utah — A 9-year-old girl was taken into a public restroom and sexually assaulted at a park in Washington Terrace, according to probable cause documents. Weber County deputies arrested Royer Juaquin Temaj-Perez, 20, on suspicion of child kidnapping and sodomy of a child, both felonies.
The day after the attack the victim described her attacker as a tan and skinny male with scars on his right arm. She also said he was wearing a navy blue t-shirt with a wolf on it and black and gray socks with a red stripe or mark on the side, the document stated.
Investigators said Temaj-Perez admitted to taking the girl into the bathroom and assaulting her.
Deputies looked at surveillance video from the park and it “confirmed that a male suspect is in on camera with the victim entering the park bathroom,” the document state. It also stated the girl was walking past the restroom when the suspect stepped in front of her and directed her into the bathroom. The video showed the girl as she left the bathroom.
“The suspect is clearly visible on multiple camera angles,” according to the document.
The arresting deputy identified Temaj-Perez by watching recordings of previous investigation interviews. Court records indicated Temaj-Perez lived near the park, according to the probable cause statement.
The investigators said he had previously arrested Temaj-Perez for sexual abuse of a child in 2019 when Temaj-Perez was a juvenile. Investigators then served a search warrant on his house and took him into custody.
The court document stated deputies also found clothing that matched the description given by the victim. Deputies then interviewed Temaj-Perez and confirmed he had a significant scar on his right arm.
“Royer (Temaj-Perez) has a juvenile history that includes other charges of sexual offenses against children,” the document stated. “Royer has demonstrated a pattern of targeting children in public areas.”
