CLEARFIELD, Utah — One person has died and four others have been transported to the hospital following a two-car crash in Clearfield.
The incident happened at 650 East and state Route 193 at approximately 5:30 p.m. Saturday.
Officials with the Clearfield Police Department said it was reported to them that at least one occupant had been ejected and was lying in the roadway.
When officers and medical personnel responded to the scene, they immediately began life-saving efforts on one of the injured passengers.
“Early information indicates a collision occurred between an eastbound Jeep Gladiator and Honda Odyssey which caused the Jeep to roll,” read a Saturday evening press release from the Clearfield Police Department.
Police said at least two passengers from the Jeep were ejected into the roadway. One of those individuals, identified as a man in his late-20s, died from his injuries on scene.
Another passenger from the Jeep, identified as an adult woman, was transported by ground ambulance to a local area hospital, along with three occupants from the Honda.
“All those transported to hospitals received injuries which are believed to be non-life-threatening,” the release stated.
Police said the drivers of both vehicles remained on scene and were cooperating with the investigation, adding that multiple witnesses also stayed on scene to provide statements.
Both lanes of SR-193 were closed between State Street and 1000 East for more than an hour Saturday while officers conducted their investigation.
At this time, the investigation remains ongoing and no citations or charges have been made.
The victim’s identity has not yet been released, pending family notification.
