JUAB COUNTY, Utah — A driver was killed Tuesday morning south of Nephi, Utah, in a single-car crash on Interstate 15.
Utah’s Department of Pubic Safety said the man, was killed after rolling the van he was driving while heading north a couple of miles south of the city of Nephi at 6:41 a.m. at the time of the crash.
DPS said the driver over-corrected, then went across both northbound lanes of the interstate and off its right shoulder near I-15’s mile post 220.
“The van rolled multiple times,” DPS said in a media release.
The driver, who has not been identified, was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle during the crash and died there because of his injuries.
“Speed and fatigue are being investigated as contributors to the crash. No other vehicles were involved in the crash,” DPS said. It was not stated by officials if the man was from Utah and license plates were blurred by DPS and the car’s state of origin could not be identified. His age and other details were not released.
The driver was said to be the only person in the van.
