Katiana Peterson, 14, and Elijah Seeley, 13, were reported as runaways on Nov. 4. Most of the concern arose because of the age of the children, Cannon said.
“Thirteen- or 14-year-old kids are going to look vulnerable,” Cannon said. “Somebody might take advantage of that, and that can be very, very dangerous for (the kids).”
At one time, officials thought the duo was possibly heading to Mexico before they were spotted in Salt Lake City on Thursday.
This is a developing story. It will be updated as new information becomes available.
