MOAB, Utah — Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a 26-year-old man who is wanted for several violent felonies.
Those felonies stem from an aggravated domestic assault and kidnapping where a woman was stabbed Saturday morning, according to a Facebook post from the Moab City Police Department.
Police later told KSL that the suspect, identified as Jair Ortiz-Comacho, went to an ex-girlfriend’s house, broke through the front door, and slashed her arm with a knife. He then forced her into a car and drove off.
The two eventually ended up at Walker Drug Company, a local market in Moab. While there, the victim escaped from the vehicle and ran to her friend’s house.
The friend drove the victim to the hospital for treatment. She has since been released.
Police said officers responded to the market after doctors at the hospital alerted authorities to the incident. Unfortunately, Ortiz-Comacho was not there.
He is described as 5 feet 8 and 150 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
Police say he was last seen wearing a gray shirt, jeans, black jacket and white shoes.
Anyone with information about Ortiz-Comacho’s whereabouts has been asked to call the Moab City Police Department.
“If you encounter him, do not approach him and dial 911 immediately,” the post stated.
Police stated in the post that he is considered armed and dangerous.
