Spring Break ‘staycation’ ideas to keep your family entertained

SALT LAKE CITY – Parents, brace yourselves! Kids across Utah are primed and ready for spring break. Here are some great ideas, proving you don’t need to travel far or spend a lot of money to keep them entertained while they’re out of school.

Antelope Island

Picturesque sunsets, beaches, miles of hiking and biking trails and oh, don’t forget the buffalo.

Crystal Hot Springs – Honeyville

Just further north in Honeyville is Crystal Hot Springs – where you can soak, swim and play.  The place has just been re-vamped with waterslides and a new cave with cascading waterfalls.

Hill Aerospace Museum – Hill Air Force Base

Kids can be entertained and wowed for hours as they tour an airplane collection that spans the evolution of aerospace from the Wright Brothers days to modern F-16 jets.

McConkie Ranch Petroglyphs – Near Vernal

A three hour drive to the Vernal area takes you to the McConkie Ranch Petroglyphs, some of the largest and most accessible petroglyphs you’ll find in Utah.

Utah Field House of Natural History – Vernal

While you’re in Vernal, this museum is a must-see for any dinosaur lover in the family.  It’s chock full of lifelike replicas and hands-on learning so kids can learn AND play without making your wallet go extinct.

George S. Eccles Dinosaur Park – Ogden

You’ll find more than a hundred incredibly realistic dinosaurs roaming this Dinosaur Park in Ogden.  Robotics and sound effects will take families into prehistoric Utah.

$7 Adults, $6 Teens, $5 Kids under 13

 

Fly High Trampoline Park – Ogden

Ogden’s Fly High Trampoline Park is 40,000 square feet of trampolines, foam pits and many other obstacles and games perfect for jumping.

Normal rates:  $14/first hour for ages 6 and up, $8/first hour for kids 3 to 5. But check Groupon where we found $9 tickets.

 

Funtopia – Lehi

Funtopia in Lehi allows kids to harness in and climb, crawl and jump around 26 obstacles, some as high as 30 feet tall!

$15/first hour includes harness and one slide.

 

Dart ‘Em Down Nerf Tag Arena – South Salt Lake

Just think paintball, but with Nerf guns, much less mess and many fewer welts.

$10/hour

Museum of Clean – Pocatello

For clean, family fun – drive north to Pocatello to see the wacky Museum of Clean!  70,000 square feet of cleaning games and artifacts from centuries old toilets to a zero-gravity trash compactor used by NASA.
