EMERY COUNTY, Utah – The Trail Mountain Fire is now 17 percent contained, and Utah Wildfire officials say the fire line is in place on large portions of the east and west sides of the fire. Higher relative humidity with cloud cover and chances of rain are expected to remain throughout the morning.
They say there was no significant growth of the fire Saturday and SR 31 reopened at 7:00 a.m. Sunday. Certain campgrounds remained closed.
Closed campgrounds include Horse Canyon Trailhead, Indian Creek Campground, Little Bear Campground, Lower Little Bear Campground and Riverside Campground.
Although SR 31 has reopened, ECSO encourages motorists to avoid the canyon.
Firefighters and equipment are still working along the roadway and smoke could reduce visibility at times.
