What You Missed This Morning: Sugar In Cookies Trigger Same Addictive Response As Cocaine

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Ever wonder why you just can’t stop reaching for those cookies?
“It seems you have to have a superhero level of self control to turn down a chocolate chip cookie — especially a hot one,” KSL’s Lori Prichard said.
There’s a scientific explanation.
It turns out the sugar is shown to induce cravings and trigger the same addictive responses as cocaine. The chocolate contains small amounts of the compounds that triggers the same parts of the brain as marijuana.
And then there’s the emotional attachment.
“It reminds of you of grandma,” Lori said.
