Four Things To Know When The Power Goes Out

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – With winter weather on the horizon, Rocky Mountain Power wants Utahns to know four things in case the power goes out.
1. Report the power outage
Don’t rely on your neighbors; if you do have a power outage, report it yourself. Rocky Mountain Power has better information with more customers reporting outages, and that can translate to a quicker response.
2. Have a power outage kit
A power outage kit should contain flashlights, a battery-operated radio, blankets, water, extra batteries and a battery charger to power up your phone without having to plug it into the wall.
3. Stay safe
Don’t use kerosene or propane heaters indoors without proper ventilation.
4. Sign up for alerts
Rocky Mountain Power will send you a text or email update. It’s a new program to help customers know where outages are and the estimated restoration times.
