Bountiful Police Investigating Report of Attempted Abduction

BOUNTIFUL, Utah — Bountiful Police are investigating after a junior high student was approached and grabbed by an older man while crossing the street this afternoon.
Police say the incident occurred just after 3 p.m.near South Davis Junior High.
The man reportedly approached her, told her he was there to pick her up at the request of her father and grabbed her by the wrist when she didn’t comply.
Luckily, police say students nearby heard the commotion and went to help the girl.

According to what witnesses told police, the suspect is about 60 years old, 6 feet tall. He was wearing a ripped white t-shirt with jeans and white shoes.
Witnesses described the suspect as frail-looking and almost bald, with short, white hair.
Officials told KSL as of 10 p.m. they were still interviewing the girl at the center of the incident.
Extra security is expected at the school tomorrow and the school district is making parents aware of the incident.
