Lawmakers Seek To Make Daylight Time As Year-Round Option

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – As Daylight Saving Time begins this year, legislators are continuing conversations about possibly doing away with setting clocks back or forward twice a year.

The federal government currently allows states to decide if they want to participate in Daylight Saving Time. However, if voters choose to opt out, they can only remain on Standard Time.

Utah state lawmakers are trying to pass a resolution to back a bill introduced by Rep. Rob Bishop, R-Utah, which would give states the option to go on Daylight Time all year if they want to.

That resolution heads to committee Monday.
