The Center for Biological Diversity and three other organizations filed a lawsuit Thursday alleging that the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation didn’t properly assess impacts on water levels and wildlife in an agreement signed Wednesday between the federal agency and state of Utah.
The plan allows Utah to get water from the Flaming Gorge Dam near the Utah-Wyoming border in exchange for giving up water rights from the Green River and its tributaries.
Bureau of Reclamation and Utah state officials didn’t immediately have comment.
The two agencies said in a news release Wednesday the agreement allows Utah to have a reliable water source.
