Family Hoping Bicycle Stolen From Teen With Special Needs Is Returned

RIVERTON, Utah – A teenage boy with special needs had his adult tricycle stolen over the weekend, and family is now hoping whoever took it will have a change of heart.
“I just want my bike back,” said 16-year-old Carson.
The reported theft happened near 12300 South and 2700 West.
“We thought it would be safe enough putting his bike right here behind the garbage can,” said Ashley Holman, whose son suffers from a rare disorder that impacts his mobility and thinking.
Holman said the bike went missing Saturday, but it wasn’t caught by the home’s front security cameras. Now exercising and getting around hasn’t been easy for her 16-year-old son.
“It just isn’t fair to him,” Holman said.
Carson was born with Kabuki syndrome, which affects multiple parts of the body including muscle movement and thinking. His adult tricycle helps him with his lower muscles and allows him to get to and from church and other outings.
“It’s special for him because it can fold up we can take it places, take it camping, take it to the lake, wherever we need,” Holman said. “(It) gives him independence.”
The bike also cost about $700, which was raised through family donations. However, Holman said it’s not about the money; it’s the principal of the matter.
Carson’s parents filed a police report with Unified Police Department. They said they just hope someone finds it in their heart to return it.
